Leaders Who Shaped Me - Kevin Mummau

Some leaders don’t just build organizations…

they build people, systems, and cultures that last.

Kevin Mummau is one of those leaders.

For more than two decades, Kevin, as Chief Relationship Officer, worked alongside Valorie Seyfert and Amy Beattie, the founders of CUSO Financial Services. CUSO Financial Services didn’t just grow as a broker-dealer. It helped define how credit unions could serve clients with integrity.

Kevin played a critical leadership role in shaping how the firm scaled the investment programs with their credit union and later, bank partners.

But titles only tell part of the story. He had a unique ability to take complexity—operations, compliance, advisor needs—and turn it into something very successful.

Kevin and I share a common foundation as Penn State alumni, but our paths truly intersected during our time at CUSO Financial Services—where I had the opportunity to work alongside him and later support him as a client.

What always stood out to me was his balance:

 • Growing credit union investment programs

 • Operational excellence

 • Respect for regulatory responsibility

 • A genuine commitment to the people he serves

That combination is rare.

I also remember when Kevin joined the BISA (Bank Insurance & Securities Association) Board of Directors nearly 20 years ago. His leadership and contributions since joining the Board have been lasting.

Today, Kevin is the Founder of Kevin Mummau & Associates, where he continues to support banks and credit unions in scaling their investment and insurance programs.
